Mercy Ships

Company Overview

Mercy Ships is a faith-based, international development organization that provides free, life-changing medical procedures and capacity building training by sending hospital ships to countries in sub-Saharan Africa. Our hospital ship, the Africa Mercy, is 16,572 gross registered tons, 152m long, and home to over 400 volunteers from over 50 different nations. The hospital onboard has 5 operating rooms, approximately 80 hospital beds, and last year we performed our 100,000th procedure. Mercy Ships recently announced that we will be adding a new hospital ship, the Global Mercy, to our fleet in 2021. The Global Mercy is 37,000 gross registered tons, 174m long, and the world’s largest civilian hospital ship that will be home to over 600 volunteers. You can find more specifics about the Global Mercy on our website (mercyships.org). The addition of the Global Mercy will more than double our surgical and training capacity, which also doubles our need for volunteers! The medical care Mercy Ships is able to provide would not be achievable without our maritime and technical volunteers to keep our ships running. We hope we can welcome you onboard one day soon!

You can expect an inviting work environment and the satisfaction of seeing your work making a real difference in the lives of the patients we serve.”

Volunteers serving long-term in leadership roles may be eligible to bring their families with them onboard.
