The primary responsibility of the chief engineer is to safely operate and efficiently maintain vessel machinery. A Transportation Worker Identification Card Minimum endorsement as a National Chief Engineer (Limited) of Motor Propelled Vessels of less than 1600 Gross Register Tons (GRT) upon Near Coastal without a horsepower limitation
Chief Engineer (CHE) Minimum endorsement as a national chief engineer (limited) of motor-propelled vessels of less than 1600 gross registered tons (GRT) upon near coastal without a horsepower limitation Pay Rates: 24-hour day: $753.92 plus premium time, overtime and subsistence
Designated Duty Engineer (DDA) Minimum endorsement as a national designated duty engineer of motor propelled vessels of less than 500 gross registered tons (GRT) upon near coastal without a horsepower limitation Pay Rates: 24-hour day: $661.88 plus premium time, overtime and subsistence
Designated Duty Engineer - Limited (DDL) / Engineer Trainee (ATE) Minimum endorsement as a national assistant engineer 6000 HP or national designated duty engineer of motor propelled vessels of less than 4000 HP pf less 500 gross registered tons (GRT) or a third assistant engineer of motor propelled vessels Pay Rates: 24-hour day: $598.84 plus premium time, overtime and subsistence
